Integrative Oncology: A Different Approach to Care

We are uniquely focused on partnering with our cancer patients to improve their quality of life by helping to lower stress, improve mood, decrease pain and empower patients to be in control of their care.

We’re on a mission to help patients improve their entire wellbeing – physical, mental and emotional. Our medical directors are board-certified oncologists who help patients manage the symptoms of cancer and cancer treatment with traditional and non-traditional care plans.

Integrative oncology focuses on the whole patient. Not just treating cancer, but helping patients manage symptoms, improve their quality of life, and feel more in control of their care. All of our instructors and staff are uniquely qualified to teach based upon their credentials, as well as their skills and additional training in working with cancer patients.

Partnership for Innovation and Outcomes

The Pluta Cancer Center Foundation has provided support for Wilmot Cancer Institute patients receiving their treatment at Pluta and cancer survivors since 2012. For almost 40 years prior to the creation of the Foundation, the Pluta Cancer Center delivered compassionate, patient-centered care for cancer patients in the Rochester community. The Pluta Cancer Center was New York’s first independent not-for-profit cancer center, offering the latest in radiation therapy technology, chemotherapy treatment, and integrative oncology care.

In 2012, the Pluta Cancer Center became part of the University of Rochester’s Wilmot Cancer Institute. The location is now home to UR Medicine’s Comprehensive Breast Care Center and the Pluta Integrative Oncology & Wellness Center, which offers evidence based programs and services aimed to optimize health, while improving quality of life and clinical outcomes, to all of Wilmot’s patients and survivors. The mission of the Pluta Cancer Center Foundation is to support patients facing financial hardships due to their cancer diagnosis and to provide Integrative Oncology Programs to all patients, at no cost to the patient.

The Pluta Cancer Center Foundation carries on the legacy of the Pluta Family that started in 1975, raising funds to help patients and their families lessening the burden of a cancer diagnosis.
